Co-founder of Ecstatic Dance UK, Richard has been handed the reigns as community leader in April 2021 to keep on making London dance after Renée’s move to Portugal.

Music and all its variety and beauty has always been his primary passion. His mission? “To get the world out of their heads and into their bodies, even if only for a split second in time, totally in the music, the beats and the present moment.”

Graduate from Dance The Medicine‘s Ecstatic Leadership Training, Richard is now a full-time Ecstatic Dance organiser, facilitator and DJ. He describes his style as “electronica, big beats, neo-classical bliss, emotional & melodic house techno and bass, ambience and peak moment catharsis. Throw in a good pinch of tribal, a sprinkle of drums and world music and we have our very eclectic recipe for one hell of a ride!”.

Cardiff-born, London-based Benjy Kirk started dreaming about becoming a DJ as a mere 10-year-old: “On weekends my best friend and I would transform my living-room into an imaginary warehouse and hold pretend raves for hours on end.” After a good few years of hardcore clubbing, he fell into the conscious dance scene and found his tribe. He has since then been found playing at Morning Gloryville, Club Soda UK and Rumble festival, amongst others. He takes his influences mainly from dance and world music with a particular taste for Latin and African rhythms. With an aim to arouse surprise and delight, we’re in for a unique ecstatic ride!

Co-founder of Ecstatic Dance Riga, Atmo Chaitanya shares his passion for dance and music between his homeland Latvia, Estonia and the UK.

From a shamanic perspective, Atmo is an ‘ecstasy hunter’, seeking higher states of consciousness through dance, tantra, breathwork and meditation. His love affair with conscious dance started 13 years ago when he attended one of London’s 5Rhythms classes and became a regular practitioner ever since.

“As a dancer, I love the sense of authenticity, connection, openness, joy and freedom on the conscious dancefloor. As a DJ, I love witnessing people allowing themselves to be as they are, in each moment. The connections that spontaneously happen, to their bodies, to the floor, to each other, to the group and beyond.”

Mira’s deep commitment as a Movement Medicine teacher is to create ceremonial dance spaces where we can begin to heal the wounds of disconnection from a culture of separation and polarisation. Spaces to gather in community, bring our intentions and dance deeply as we resource ourselves. Journeys to connect us to our life force energy, opening us to connect to the vast reservoir of life’s intelligence. Experiences where we may become a little more conscious of what we are unconscious of. Moving meditations in which we may open our hearts a little wider and be touched by the vibration of compassion – compassion for ourselves, each other, our planet and the interconnected community of life on earth.

  • What should I wear?
Our events are judgement-free spaces, so feel free to dress however you wish, whether it's a t-shirt and leggings or a fully-sequined catsuit. Wear layers: you will get warm (even in winter) so dress to sweat!
  • What type of music do you play?
Ecstatic Dance music is eclectic and not linked to any specific genre. We start with ambient, chillout tunes then bring you on an ecstatic journey with electronica, EDM, world music and ethnic beats before bringing you back down with downtempo tracks and finish with a soothing sound bath.
  • Can I come on my own?
Certainly -lots of people actually come on their own, so don't be shy! The post-dance lunch is also a great way to meet new people and make friends.
  • Are children allowed?
Yes our events are kids-friendly and under 12s can come for free! We simply ask parents/guardians to enforce the no-talking guideline and recommend ear protection as the music can get loud.

Yes there is paid street parking around the venue. Free parking is available around Mabley Green (E9 5HW).
  • Can I volunteer?
Yes, we need a handful of volunteers to help with the setup before and clear up after. We reward all volunteers with a free admission to the dance.
