Could you use a little extra support right now?

Every Thursday, learn from master teachers from different conscious dance modalities including Nia, Open Floor, JourneyDance, Intuitive Body and Dance, Contact Improvisation, and Dancing Freedom.

Ecstatic Dance Lab is an opportunity for you to learn how to tap into your embodied wisdom and get the support you need – from the deep well of wisdom inside you. These master teachers have decades of experience guiding students into a deeper, more whole experience of being human. That means that by studying with them you’ll (most likely) feel better. You’ll feel more fluid. More patient. More alive. Less stagnant. Less stressed. Less sluggish.

By offering an embodied experience from different conscious dance teachers, you get to try on a myriad of ways to be with yourself through dance and music. You’ll learn some new practices that might even help you navigate the current world with more grace and acceptance.

ECSTATIC DANCE LAB IS FOR YOU IF…

  • You want to deepen your dance practice.
  • You are having a hard time being present in your life.
  • You want to truly love your body instead of fighting it.
  • You’re tired of being anxious about covid and are ready to learn different ways to navigate within the pandemic that feel good to your body and spirit.
  • You’re ready to learn in an intimate online environment with others on the same path.

How can we move and include feelings, other people, thoughts, wild passions, limitations and still stay centered?

Open Floor is an inquiry and resource-based movement and dance meditation practice for building muscular and emotional intelligence, mindfulness and soulfulness. We cultivate the forces that fuel our creativity, our connections and our ability to change, which we all know is the only constant in life.

In this class, we will practice the dance of connecting with oneself. Letting the dance inform us where we are in alignment or out of alignment with ourselves.

As humans knowing the dance between center and off-center provides us with a feeling of freedom and grace from within. Learning to center, again and again, teaches us how to find equilibrium when life knocks us off-balance.

Joseph Machado is an Open Floor International faculty member, a somatic therapist and a public high school teacher in San Francisco. Their commitment is to help people be themselves and resist the demands to conform that take away their ability to be the individuals they are.

    Guided Dancing Freedom Journey

We begin by opening sacred space, setting intentions for our dance and then journey through the elements, with some light guidance. We conclude with a harvesting meditation and closing the space together.
    Phoenix Bio
My name is Phoenix, and I firmly believe that each and every one of us has a unique role to play in our evolving culture and in the shifting of the current paradigm. I have committed my life to co-creating spaces and opportunities for people to unite with one another and nature to put their pieces of the puzzle together. I combine my passion for teaching, embodiment, ceremony, ritual and communing with nature, to play my part in weaving our collective visions into the web that we are each a part of.
My purpose is to inspire and empower others to share their gifts. I am here to remind others to stop playing small, encouraging them to share their gifts and to remember that we are all here to work together towards the “more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.” I am a student of life, a teacher, a medicine woman and an embodied leader who unapologetically shares my vision for global synergy and collaboration.
I am the director and lead teacher trainer for Dancing Freedom. I have a Masters degree in Education and Creative Arts in Learning. I have been a school teacher for over 15 years, working with children from the age of 3 to high school age.
